As families across the country face a week (or more!) with kids out of school, parents who may or may not have days off themselves, and competing demands for who wants to do what with their time, I thought I’d share a facilitation tool I’ve adapted for our family when we have extended family […]
How Twitter Helped Me Beat My Monday Morning Funk
Last Monday morning I found myself stuck to the chair in my kitchen. I just couldn’t seem to make myself move from the kitchen to my home office to get started on the various projects of the day. So I tweeted my malaise to the Twitterverse.
“I.am.procrastinating.”
My friend @micheledortch replied quickly.
“I […]
From Mary Mann at MaplewoodPatch.com:
Mothers & More is a life raft for many new mothers in the two towns–and around the country.
But Maplewood and South Orange moms seem to take to the group in a particularly ferocious way. Perhaps it is because so many are […]

Dump Instacart for Dumpling. Better for shoppers and better for customers. My experience shopping with Dumpling for both myself and in-laws has been amazing.
Stop using Instacart and switch to Dumpling which allows shoppers to set up their own small business & set their own rates. Plus you establish a relationship with a shopper who knows you. Better for everybody. http://Dumpling.us

But I'll always remember generations of women have served in this role before me—often without much accolade or acknowledgment. It’s their legacy of progress I will build on as Second Gentleman.
I agree with Europe: Wearing medical-grade masks will be important to slow the spread of the B.1.1.7 strain. We have consistent evidence that single-layer cloth masks are not as effective as surgical masks, and N95 or KN95 masks are even better. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/europe/europe-coronavirus-masks-regulations/2021/01/20/23463c08-5a74-11eb-a849-6f9423a75ffd_story.html

How (Not) to Calm a Child on a Plane
Johanna Stein, a TV writer, who describes herself as a “first time parent and long-time neurotic,” read Lisa Belkin’s (of the New York Times) post about the mother and child who were escorted off a Southwest flight last week, and sent her an essay she wrote about being that parent — the kind whose […]
